Publication Ethics

Ceddi Journal of Information System and Technology (JST) is committed to upholding high standards of publication ethics and maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher, Yayasan Cendekiawan Inovasi Digital Indonesia. The journal follows the principles and guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). These ethical standards apply throughout the submission, editorial evaluation, peer review, publication, and post-publication processes.

A. Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Authors must submit only original manuscripts that have not been previously published and are not simultaneously under consideration by another journal.
  2. Authors must provide an accurate, honest, and complete account of the research conducted and ensure that the manuscript is supported by appropriate data, methods, and references.
  3. Authors must appropriately acknowledge the work and ideas of others and avoid plagiarism, inappropriate paraphrasing, duplicate or redundant publication, data fabrication, data falsification, citation manipulation, and other forms of research or publication misconduct.
  4. Authorship must be limited to individuals who have made substantive contributions to the work. All listed authors must approve the submitted and final versions of the manuscript and accept responsibility for their contributions. Individuals who do not qualify for authorship must not be listed as authors, while contributors who do not meet authorship criteria may be acknowledged where appropriate.
  5. Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, personal, or other competing interests that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation.
  6. Where applicable, authors must ensure that research involving human participants, personal data, animals, confidential information, or other ethically sensitive materials has been conducted in accordance with relevant ethical, institutional, and legal requirements. Ethical approval and informed consent information must be provided where required.
  7. Authors must promptly inform the editors if a significant error or inaccuracy is discovered in a submitted or published article and cooperate with any necessary correction, retraction, expression of concern, or other appropriate post-publication action.
  8. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and content of their work, including when generative artificial intelligence or other automated tools are used in accordance with the journal's applicable policies. Generative AI tools cannot be credited as authors.
  9. Authors must provide an appropriate Data Availability Statement and clearly disclose any legitimate ethical, legal, privacy, confidentiality, or proprietary restrictions on access to data, code, software, models, or other materials supporting the findings.

B. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  1. Reviewers must treat manuscripts and all related materials as confidential and must not disclose or use unpublished information for personal, professional, commercial, or other advantage.
  2. Reviews must be objective, impartial, constructive, and supported by clear scholarly reasoning.
  3. Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been appropriately cited and report suspected plagiarism, duplication, research misconduct, citation manipulation, or other ethical concerns to the editors.
  4. Reviewers must disclose any competing interests and decline a review when personal, professional, financial, institutional, collaborative, or other relationships could compromise, or reasonably appear to compromise, their impartiality.
  5. Reviewers should complete reviews within the agreed timeframe or promptly inform the editors when they are unable to do so.
  6. Reviewers must protect manuscript confidentiality when using digital or automated tools and must comply with the journal's policies concerning the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence and automated tools in peer review.

C. Responsibilities of Editors

  1. Editors must make independent, fair, and unbiased editorial decisions based on the scholarly quality, originality, methodological soundness, significance, and relevance of manuscripts to the journal's scope.
  2. Editors must ensure that research articles are evaluated through the journal's established double-blind peer-review process by at least two independent external reviewers with relevant expertise who are not part of the journal's editorial team and have no conflicts of interest related to the manuscript.
  3. Editors must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and information obtained during the editorial and peer-review process.
  4. Editors must disclose and appropriately manage competing interests and recuse themselves from handling manuscripts when a conflict could compromise, or reasonably appear to compromise, editorial independence.
  5. Manuscripts submitted by members of the journal's editorial team or Editorial Board must be handled independently by an editor who has no conflict of interest with the authors. The submitting editor or Editorial Board member must not participate in reviewer selection, access confidential review information in an editorial capacity, or participate in editorial decisions concerning the manuscript.
  6. Editors must take appropriate action when plagiarism, duplicate or redundant publication, data fabrication or falsification, authorship disputes, citation manipulation, undisclosed competing interests, or other forms of suspected misconduct are identified.
  7. Editors must safeguard the integrity of the scholarly record by considering corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, or other appropriate post-publication actions when necessary and in accordance with the journal's policies and applicable COPE guidance.
  8. Editorial decisions must not be influenced by Article Processing Charge (APC) payments, waiver requests, commercial considerations, institutional relationships, or other non-academic factors.

D. Responsibilities of the Publisher

  1. The publisher supports the implementation of ethical publishing standards and respects the editorial independence of the journal.
  2. The publisher ensures that commercial, financial, institutional, or other interests do not improperly influence editorial decisions.
  3. The publisher supports transparent information concerning Article Processing Charges (APCs), the journal's business model, copyright, licensing, and open-access policies.
  4. The publisher supports appropriate procedures for handling allegations of research and publication misconduct and for maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.
  5. The publisher supports appropriate corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, and other post-publication actions when required to maintain the reliability of the scholarly record.
  6. The publisher supports long-term digital preservation and continued accessibility of published content.

E. Research Integrity and Misconduct

Ceddi Journal of Information System and Technology does not tolerate plagiarism, duplicate or redundant publication, data fabrication, data falsification, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, undisclosed competing interests, manipulation of the peer-review process, or other forms of research and publication misconduct.

Allegations of misconduct are evaluated according to the nature of the concern and the available evidence. The journal will not automatically treat an allegation as established misconduct. Authors or other relevant parties may be contacted and given an appropriate opportunity to respond to concerns where applicable.

Where appropriate, the journal will follow applicable COPE guidance and may contact authors, reviewers, institutions, research-integrity officers, funders, or other relevant parties as part of the assessment or investigation. Depending on the circumstances and outcome, appropriate editorial or post-publication action may include rejection, correction, retraction, expression of concern, or other measures necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

F. Complaints and Appeals

Complaints concerning the journal's editorial process, publication ethics, policies, staff conduct, or published content may be submitted through the journal's official contact information. Complaints will be handled fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with applicable journal policies and relevant COPE guidance.

Authors may appeal an editorial decision by submitting a written request that clearly explains the grounds for the appeal and provides relevant supporting information. An appeal should address substantive concerns regarding the editorial or peer-review process rather than merely express disagreement with the decision. Appeals will be reviewed appropriately, and the outcome will be communicated to the author.

Where a complaint or appeal concerns the Editor-in-Chief or another editor directly involved in the original decision, the matter will be handled by another appropriate editor or representative who has no conflict of interest in the case. The person who is the subject of the complaint or appeal will not make the final determination concerning that complaint or appeal.

Readers, authors, reviewers, and other interested parties may raise concerns or comments regarding published articles through the journal's official contact information. Where appropriate, such concerns will be evaluated by the editorial team and may result in clarification, correction, expression of concern, retraction, or other appropriate action in accordance with the journal's policies and applicable COPE guidance.

G. Post-Publication Discussion and Corrections

The journal welcomes legitimate scholarly comments and concerns regarding published articles. Readers, authors, and other interested parties may submit post-publication comments or concerns through the journal's official contact information. Submissions will be evaluated by the editorial team and, where appropriate, the authors of the published article may be invited to respond.

When an error or concern affects the scholarly record, the journal may publish a correction, retraction, expression of concern, or other appropriate notice. The type of action will depend on the nature and significance of the issue and will be determined in accordance with the journal's applicable policies and relevant COPE guidance.

Post-publication actions are intended to maintain the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. Published content will not be altered or removed without appropriate justification and documentation, except where removal is necessary because of legal requirements, privacy or safety concerns, or other exceptional circumstances.
