About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Focus

Journal of Digital Learning Innovation publishes rigorous research on the design, implementation, and evaluation of digital technologies and learning environments intended to support teaching, learning, and educational assessment.

The central contribution of a submission must concern digital innovation in education. Manuscripts should examine how a digital technology is designed, implemented, used, or evaluated and demonstrate its relevance to learning processes, teaching practice, assessment, or educational outcomes. Reporting software functionality alone is insufficient without meaningful evaluation in an educational context.

Scope

The journal welcomes original research, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and methodological studies in areas including:

  • Digital Learning Environments and Platforms
Learning management systems, online and blended learning environments, mobile learning, MOOCs, and collaborative digital learning platforms.
  • Digital Pedagogy and Instructional Design
Technology-supported teaching strategies, digital course design, technology-enhanced instruction, and the integration of digital tools into learning activities.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Adaptive Learning
AI-supported instruction, intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive and personalized learning, and generative AI applications evaluated in teaching or learning contexts.
  • Learning Analytics and Educational Data
The use of learner data and analytics to understand learning processes, inform instruction, support learners, or improve educational decision-making.
  • Interactive, Game-Based, and Immersive Learning
Educational games, gamification, simulations, virtual reality, augmented reality, and other interactive digital learning experiences.
  • Digital Assessment and Feedback
Computer-based assessment, digital feedback, automated assessment tools, and technology-supported assessment practices when their contribution concerns learning or instruction.
  • Implementation, Access, and Responsible Use
Adoption, usability, accessibility, inclusion, ethics, and governance of digital learning innovations when examined in an educational context.

Scope Boundary

Research in which digital technology is only a setting or delivery channel, while the main contribution concerns a general educational issue, is outside the journal’s primary focus and may be more suitable for the Ceddi Journal of Education. Technical development or functional testing without meaningful educational evaluation is also outside JDLI’s primary scope.
