About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Focus

Ceddi Journal of Measurement and Psychometrics publishes methodological and empirical research that advances the development, validation, analysis, and interpretation of measures of human attributes and outcomes. The journal focuses on measurement theory and psychometric methods applied in education, psychology, health, and related behavioral and social sciences.

A manuscript is within the journal’s focus when its main contribution concerns how a construct is measured, how an instrument performs, or how measurement results should be interpreted.

Scope

The journal considers research on:

  • Development and Adaptation of Measures
The design, development, translation, cultural adaptation, and validation of tests, scales, questionnaires, and other measurement instruments.

  • Validity, Reliability, and Measurement Quality
Validity evidence, reliability, measurement precision, sources of measurement error, and score interpretation.

  • Psychometric Models and Methods
Classical test theory, item response theory, Rasch models, factor-analytic measurement models, generalizability theory, and diagnostic classification models.

  • Fairness and Comparability
Measurement invariance, differential item functioning, bias, test equating, linking, and comparability of scores across groups or settings.

  • Scoring and Assessment Methods
Scoring procedures, rater-mediated assessment, rubric measurement, standard setting, computerized testing, and adaptive assessment.

  • Applications in Human and Behavioral Sciences
Psychometric studies of educational, psychological, health-related, social, and behavioral constructs, provided that the principal contribution concerns measurement.

  • Measurement Methodology and Tools
Methodological comparisons, simulation studies, and computational tools when they advance psychometric analysis.

Studies of teaching and learning practices, educational interventions, or program and policy evaluation are outside the journal’s scope when they do not make a substantive contribution to measurement or psychometrics. Research on physical or engineering metrology is also outside the journal’s scope.
